About Quarry

Cut cleanly from the source.

A quarry is where valuable stone is cut out of the ground, and it is also the thing being hunted. Both fit what we do: find data that is hard to get, and extract it cleanly for the labs building frontier models.

Why we exist

Labs need data the open web doesn't have: real conversations in the languages people speak, medical studies with the reports that explain them, the private record of how work actually gets done. The organisations that hold that data, call centres, banks, insurers, hospitals and platforms, often have years of it. What they don't have is a safe way to license it.

Selling data shouldn't mean moving personal information around, and buying it shouldn't mean inheriting someone else's legal risk. Quarry exists to make that trade possible on terms both sides can defend.

How it works

One block's trip, three stations.

rest
  1. 01We source. We match what labs ask for with the owners who hold it, and review their rights before anything moves.
  2. 02We clear. De-identification runs inside the owner's systems, so only de-identified data ever leaves, checked by people and machines.
  3. 03We license and deliver. On the owner's terms, with a datasheet and a provenance record for every item.

What we hold ourselves to

A broker you can check.

We show our compliance status as it is, including what's still in progress. The trust center says how.

  • A broker, not an ownerWe license other people's data on their terms. We don't build a hoard of our own.
  • No copies we don't needWhat we touch is logged, and what we don't need to keep, we don't keep.
  • No claims we can't backEvery line on this site should be true on the day you read it.
  • Status as it isCompliance shows done, in progress and planned, honestly labelled.

Team

We're a small team that works across data, law and engineering. If that's your kind of problem, we'd like to hear from you.
